A bad year by association for Maria Luigia, the Duchess of Parma, who saw her husband, Napoleon Bonaparte, lose the decisive battle at Waterloo and subsequently face exile on the island of Saint Helena off the coast of Africa. A SCARCE type, this Mint State survivor exhibits lovely multicolored tone, largely russet and lilac in its composition, over highly reflective surfaces. A real slice of history from this tumultuous era. NGC MS-61.
