ITALY. Venice. Ducat, ND. Tomaso Mocenigo (1414-23). NGC MS-67.
3.54 gms. Fr-1231; Paolucci-pg. 39 #1. RARE in this state of preservation. Tied for finest certified at NGC with none of this type in the grade at PCGS. Doge kneeling before Saint Mark; Reverse: Christ standing flanked by stars. Mocenigo was elected, after demonstrating his military prowess against the Genoese during the War of Chioggia and other military accomplishments. Well struck with full details on obverse figures. Full lovely satin luster and the barest hint of toning on the reverse. A fantastic example of a late Medieval Ducat, worthy of the finest cabinet of Italian coinage. NGC MS-67.
