MEXICO. Guerrero. Cacahuatepec. Peso, 1917-GoLV. NGC AU-55.
GB-150; KM-651; Gaytan-Gro.43 (this coin). Highly lustrous and well struck for this crude issue (note the full "Libertad" on the cap although the date is a tad weak) with only a hint of friction evident on the higher points and attractive incipient toning over problem-free surfaces. Currently the single finest certified example of this EXTREMELY RARE one-year type, and undoubtedly among the very finest extant. Clearly superior to both the Pradeau and Gerber examples and certified higher than the Millenia collection coin (graded NGC AU-53) which hammered at $14,200 in 2008. Recent auction prices for this sought after rarity are a cleaned example (certified AU Details NGC) that realized $9,000 (plus fees) in a 2009 sale, and the damaged Linden collection example that sold for the equivalent of $6,856 (plus fees) despite evidence of having been mounted. The present outstanding example will certainly grace any advanced collection of Mexican issues of the Revolution era. A superb specimen of the legendary "Cacahuatepec" Revolutionary Peso with an impeccable pedigree! NGC AU-55.

Ex: Gaytan Collection.

Estimate: $10000.00- $15000.00
