NETHERLANDS. Kingdom of Holland. 50 Stuivers, 1808. PCGS MS-65 Secure Holder.
Dav-228; KM-28. Bust of Louis Napoleon right; Reverse: Crowned coat of arms. As the Batavian Republic would not stop its profitable smuggling trade with England, Napoleon installed his younger brother Louis as the puppet king of Holland in 1806. When he proved unable or unwilling to staunch the smuggling, he was in turn ousted in 1810 and the Netherlands annexed to the French Empire. A Gem example of the type, this piece is of rarely rivaled quality, with undisturbed satiny fields, a delightful strike and soft complimentary tone. Worthy of a refined cabinet of Napoleonic-era crowns. PCGS MS-65 Secure Holder.

From the Keystone Collection.

Ex: Coin Galleries sale, November 1988, Lot #777.

Estimate: $1500.00- $2000.00
