TURKEY. Zecchino, ND (1659-74). PCGS AU-58 Secure Holder.
cf. Fr-1332; cf. KM-313.3; ICV-3223. An interesting countermarked issue (ca. early 18th century), struck over a Venetian Zecchino of Domenico Contarini with the Arabic countermark, commonly attributed to the Ottoman Empire (Turkey), reading "Sahih" ("Correct" or "Current"). The mark, deeply punched, has slightly bowed the surfaces, but otherwise they remain attractive and quite lustrous. RARE.
