Austria: Carl Andorfer commemorative medal, 1893; struck in silvered bronze(?); by Franz Xavier Pawlik (Austria); 32.5mm, 20.15g; thickness: 2.75mm. Obverse: Andorfer's profile left, with abbreverse legend "born in Vienna 1852" & Pawlik's name engraved on shoulder. Reverse: dedication in German surrounded by ornamental wreath "Co-founder of the Coins and Medals Club of Vienna | A Token from Your Friends". Medallic strike, plain rim. Andorfer was well known collector of coins & medals, co-founded with Richard Epstein what became a collection of 1,000+ medals commemorating musicians (later purchased by Paul Niggl) & formed basis of book he published "Musica in Nummis" (1907). In EF-AU; Forrer-434, ANA 1910 exhibition #433. Pawlik at his peak was First Medallist to Vienna Mint.
