US: Christopher Columbus Quinticentennial, 1492-1992, in bronze; by Jewish medalist Paul Vincze; 57.5mm, 81.5g: bust of Columbus on obverse and image of two Indians and two settlers meeting on the reverse. The medal quotes Columbus' first log entry from his mission, "After you expelled the Jews your majesties sent me with a fleet" - a reference either to Columbus' own alleged Jewish background or to that of his forcibly converted crew members. Etched "Magnes Museum Berkeley Ca [California]" on rim, and numbered 267. In UNC (lack of fine detail due to the strike and not to wear).
