Tikun Sofrim Chumach/Pentateuch + Haftarot series vol 5 "Sefer HaDvarim(sic)" with title page illustrated by Bernard Picart, 1725 (1726 Amsterdam ed.); twin-page numbered 268-330 (i.e. 124 pgs total) w/gold edges & original binding in gold-tooled leather + owner's name imprinted "A. Abecasis", marbled-blue inside liner; printed on milled paper w/large "crown" watermark. Incl. Spanish-titled summary of letter-count + blessings for before/after reading on regular occasions & holidays. Title page lists the publishers Samuel Rodriges Mendes, Moses Zarfati De Gerona & David Gomez Da Silva, and referred to in 3 cartouches depicting Biblical scenes & quotations: David meeting Jonathan ("The life of my lord shall be bound up in the bonds of life"), Hannah & Samuel, "And she called his name Samuel, for 'I asked him of the Lord'", baby Moses before Batya "And she called his name Moses, because I have drawn him out of the waters". Picart (1673-1733) was a French-Protestant designer & engraver, one of the most prominent of his time, who depicted Jewish religious customs in a sympathetic, non-judgemental manner. Cover surface wear in places, wear to bottom edge & more heavily on front/back bottom corners; splitting between cover spine & sides; pages intact, almost no wear, some age stains.
