Alexandroni Brigade 25th anniversary conference commemoration medal, 1973: struck in nickel; no maker mark; weight - 35.65g; size - 44.5mm. Obverse depicts a British mk III helmet set against the emblem of the IDF (an olive branch intertwined with a sword) and the legend "Alexandroni 1948 1973"; on reverse the Brigade's emblem on right and the regional emblem on left (the Brigade was one of six assigned a region for operation) with legend "Conference 5733 in the 25th year of Israel [independence]". The 3rd Alexandroni Brigade was derived from the pre-State Hagana's defence force's permanent standing "field corps" and fought in the region of Samaria, participating in the breakthrough of the siege of Jerusalem (April 1948), liberating areas around Tel Aviv and the northern areas of the coastal plane before being transferred southwards to fight the Egyptians in the Negev and Falluja pocket.
