Romania: colored enamel two-piece metal badge of the nationalist "Iron Guard" ('Garda de fier') movement, circa. 1930's; maker-marked S.T. I.A. LEI 26; size: 31x37mm; weight: 13.7g. The highly anti-Semitic/clerical-mystic movement was founded in 1927 and officially surpressed in early 1941, but not before being part of the shared government with Ion Antonescu and launching a pogrom in Bucharest (Jan. 1941); thereafter surpressed but members released from prison at start of German invasion of the Soviet Union to re-organize and carry out the enormous Iasi pogrom.
