RARE HISTORICAL DOCUMENT: "Richard [Cromwell] Lord Protector" letter on parchment of his administration regarding the inheritance of a certain individual who left an estate large enough to warrant his Regency's executorship of it. Front bears 16 lines of handwritten text + a 17th line with possible date and names of the persons involved (Blankeye, Hook); on reverse the date 8(?) Nov. 1658 and the possible title of the administrator involved, referencing in his title "Rich. Cromwell Protector". The document has been folded twice horizontally & twice vertically; there are 5 slits in vertical order at bottom-center, probably where the official seal would have been placed. Richard, son of Oliver, the First Lord Protector and his successor remained in power as the 2nd Lord protector for just over 8 months (3 Sept. 1658 - 25 May 1659) before resigning. Hence a rare document from a very short tenure & brief era (the non-Royalist "Commonwealth of England", 1649-1660) in British history.
