AUCTION CATALOGUES. Ciani, L. Paris, 14-16 May 1936. Monnaies Grecques, Romaines, Françaises et Étrangères. Collection de M. E. de P... (Deuxième Partie). 691 lots, 41 pages, 12 plates. Photocopy of prices realized list tipped in. (22.5x28.5cm) Original card covers, shelf worn, bound in. New quarter tan leather with brown spine letters. Very Good. CS 8987, Spring 120

A note from BCD: Louis Ciani died when he was only 34 years old, but he had already built such a reputation that his name survived him for many years. This auction took place nearly seven years after his passing and the catalogue is still under his name. The twelve plates offer a mixture of the best that could be found in Paris during these uncertain pre WWII years. Two plates of nice Greek coins are followed by two more of rare Roman. A few Byzantine follow, the remaining eight plates being a fine display of French. Italian and Belgian rarities.
