(18.5x24.5cm) 624 lots, 50 pages, 18 plates; with 30 June 1965. No. 9. Catalogue of an Important Collection of Oriental Coins in Gold, Silver and Bronze. (18.5x24.5cm) 624 lots, 50 pages, 18 plates, dealer stamp; with 30 June 1965. No. 9. Catalogue of an Important Collection of Oriental Coins in Gold, Silver and Bronze. 624 lots, 50 pages, prices realized printed at each lot as issued, dealer stamp. (18.5x24.5cm) The 3 catalogues with original printed green card covers, the second with a few neat ink notes, the last with evidence of a small rust stain on some pages. Very Good to Near Fine.

A note from BCD: The first two catalogues offered the same material but with a month and a half between their auctioning dates. The third one is the usual priced copy issued after the sale. The preface by J(ean) P(aul) D(ivo) of Bank Leu indicated that the selling of this American collection was a partnership affair between the Zurich bank and either Glendining or, possibly, someone who used Glendining as a front. It appears that this important Oriental coin sale was postponed and the catalogue was reprinted with more and better quality plates. Does this make the earlier catalogue a rarity? – not mentioned in Manville & Robertson. Perhaps a venerable orientalist can fill in the missing details of the story and answer this question.
