A note from BCD: Gitta Kastner continued to struggle against the Swiss dealers who, after the successful dispersal of the Kunstfreund Greek coins, controlled and dominated both the ancient coin retail and auction markets. It was not easy to find top quality coins for her prestige auctions and therefore the offerings now tended to be more collector rather than investor oriented. However, Munich was already becoming the entry gateway from the Balkans and the Middle East, so hoard material was also making its appearance.
