MACEDONIAN KINGDOM. Alexander III the Great (336-323 BC). AV stater (17mm, 8.59 gm, 11h). NGC Choice MS 5/5 - 4/5, flan flaw. Posthumous issue of Babylon, under Seleucus I Nicator, ca. 311-300 BC. Head of Athena right, wearing crested Corinthian helmet pushed back on head, the bowl adorned with coiled serpent / AΛEΞANΔPOY / BAΣ-IΛEΩΣ , Nike standing left, holding wreath in right hand and stylis cradled in left arm; MI below wing at left, monogram within wreath below wing at right. Price 3748. SC 81.2. HGC 9, 3a. A bold strike with remaining luster halo evident around the elements and between the legends. Cited flan flaw at 12:00 on the reverse is only a slight edge issue and does not effect the coin's details.
