Head of Athena right, wearing crested Attic helmet with bowl unadorned, hair shown in parallel waves along forehead / A-ΘE, owl standing right, head facing; olive sprig with center berry to left, all within incuse square. HGC 4, 1590. Seltman Groups C, G and M. Svoronos pl. 5, 31. A bold example of the archaic Athenian coinage, well centered on a compact flan, deep toning with lighter devices.
