Leopold V 2 Taler ND (1626) AU58 NGC, Hall mint, KM641, Dav-3332, Vogl-180. Struck to commemorate the marriage of the Archduke to Claudia de Medici following his resignation from his previously held ecclesiastical positions. Obv. Conjoined busts of Leopold and Claudia right. Rev. Eagle with wings spread and wreath above. Sharply struck, with mottled gray toning and minor flan stress flaws. This scarcer variety may be differentiated from the later posthumous type by more ornamentation on the obverse busts and a larger wreath above the eagle. Also, the name "Claudia" appears in the obverse legend at 1:00 on this variety, and at 6:00 on the more available variety.
