Charles IV gold 8 Escudos 1802 So-JJ AU58 NGC, Santiago mint, KM54. A coin of such quality that one is forced to do a double-take at the certified grade. AU58 is an accurate certification for this coin in that it does bear light wear to Charles's portrait, but in all other respects it is a stunning survivor, intensely lustrous and of splendid eye appeal. Centrally and strongly struck, toned a light honey over the goldenrod planchet, a cut above the normal eye appeal for an Almost Uncirculated specimen of the type; the sole note a minor metal flaw on the reverse in the field above the denomination, but one which ultimately fails to undermine the beauty of this fabulous 8 Escudos.
