Republic copper nickel Pattern "Jose Marti" 40 Centavos MS63 NGC, cfr. KM32. A scarce pattern issue, unlisted by Krause, struck in copper-nickel like the regular KM32 issue, yet produced with the bust of Jose Marti on the obverse rather than the standard bust of Camilo Cienfuegos. Interestingly the Jose Marti bust was applied for production of the 20 Centavos issue of 1962 and 1968, though ultimately never adopted for the 40 Centavo issue. Thus, this offering represents a unique piece of numismatic history, and in attractively lustrous choice condition at that. The only example certified by NGC to-date and similar to no other pieces we have handled.
