Cuba
Republic "Star" Peso 1916 MS62+ NGC, Philadelphia mint, KM15.2. Charming, a lovely example of this early dated 'star' type, glowing with an eye-catching cartwheel luster. The first of these issues featured a high-relief star on the obverse which was quickly changed to a more shallowly-engraved design; however, despite this reduced relief, the detail has remained bold and sharp on this almost-choice specimen. Toned a light gold to the lower peripheries on an otherwise brilliant white planchet, a highly desirable early Cuban offering.
