Republic silver Matte Proof Pattern Peso 1953 PR62 NGC, KM29. "Liberty Cap" design. A rare emission displaying an obverse identical to the regular-issue Peso of 1953, but with a Liberty Cap reverse design of the same type as that used for the 20 Centavos issue of the same year. Well-defined, with seemingly few marks or distractions for the grade, the surfaces exhibiting a tinge of amber tone with a scattering of lighter hues throughout. A lack of sales records attests to the rare nature of all 1953 proof issues, the best comparable we could find being a 4-piece Proof set sold in our 3019 Sale (Lot #24159) for $13,800, all-in, in 2012.
