Republic 20 Centimes 1849-A MS66 PCGS, Paris mint, KM758.1. A beautiful premium gem, one of only 4,877 pieces produced and certainly amongst the finest. Barely toned, the surfaces of this piece remain essentially as white and brilliant as when first struck, save for the lightest suggestion of golden tone at the peripheries. A lower-graded example of MS65 we offered in our April 2015 sale realized $1,200, and we fully expect this MS66 example to generate greater bidder excitement.
