Napoleon III silver Specimen Longchamp Palace Medal 1865 SP62 PCGS, Divo-596, 491.44gm, 95mm. A fabulous palace in Marseille, completed in 1865, but opened in 1869. Designed by the architect Henri-Jacques Esperandeau, the palace buildings and surrounding Longchamp Park, are both functional and amazingly beautiful. Obv. View of the Palace and park. Rev. Rectangular plaque, with ornate surroundings, stating that the Palace was finished under the reign of Napoleon III, and states the department, and personages responsible for the completion.
