Republic gold 50 Francs 1896-A AU55 PCGS, Paris mint, KM831, Fr-591, Gad-1113. Only 800 of this type were struck, rendering this one of the rarest in the gold 50 Franc series. Aglow with an alluring peach tone, only very light wear to the highest points, the fields lustrous - particularly the reverse which approaches prooflike reflectivity. An example graded AU58 NGC in our 2013 Long Beach Auction (sale 3026) realized $3,600, and we expect this similarly high quality offering to generate comparable excitement.
