French Colony Proof 50 Cents 1879-A PR66 PCGS, Paris mint, KM6, Lec-25. A beautiful selection, a premium gem proof from this French colony which today exists as part of Vietnam. Existing from the 1860s until the end of WWII, French Cochin China only produced coins between 1875 and 1885, rendering even business strikes rare, let alone sublime proofs such as the present offering. Essentially as made, this piece exhibits sleek reflective surfaces with strong die-polish lines, blanketed in a deep olive-brown patina flaring into cobalts and iridescent golds at the peripheries.
