Great Britain
Elizabeth I (1558-1603) gold Angel ND (1573-4) VF25 NGC, Tower mint, S-2517, N-1992/1. Third and fourth issues, Acorn mm (attributed to first issue, Lis on the holder). A very rare denomination from this last Tudor monarch, and one of the last truly Medieval coins to be featured in circulation. This specimen exhibits a satisfying depth of detail, somewhat worn commensurate with the grade but remaining relatively bold. The flan is slightly irregular at 7 - 9 o'clock on the obverse, but the rest is exceptionally round and free of cracks, warmly toned a reddish gold in color. A delightful selection of rare Elizabethan gold.
