Charles I (1625-49) gold Double Crown ND (1640-41) XF40 NGC, Tower mint, S-2706, N-2177. Star/triangle mm. An especially nice portrait of Charles I is present on this delightful Double Crown, well-struck up and with minimal wear. Despite a slightly wavy flan and some areas of weakness, this coin still gives the impression of having been particularly well produced for a series notorious for its mass-production of badly struck and badly prepared coins. Excellent eye appeal and highly collectable.
