Charles II tin Farthing 1684 AU Details (Environmental Damage) NGC, KM436.2, S-3395. The only predecimal base metal English coin series to feature edge lettering, the tin Farthings and Halfpennies of Charles II, James II and William and Mary were produced to aid the struggling Cornish tin industry. This present offering hails from the final year of Charles II's coinage, very attractive for its details designation with clear devices and legends; tin being such a reactive metal, it is very common to find these types far more corroded than this specimen. Well-made for the type and with residual luster evident particularly on the reverse, this is a superb example of a very scarce type.
