James II silver Coronation Medal 1685 MS63 NGC, 33.5mm, Eimer-273, MI-605-5. By J. Roettier. A delightful specimen of this controversial Monarch's coronation medal. Often found worn, or gilt to pass off as gold versions, this piece remains near-pristine after 333 years, with a wonderful golden toning to the obverse, and a steel-blue patina to the reverse. Far finer than the average and especially attractive even for its respectable certified grade, this medal deserves careful examination and a premium bid.
