George I Shilling 1723-SSC MS66 NGC, KM539.3, S-3647, ESC-1176. First bust. Produced from silver specie supplied by the South Sea Company, often found in high grades but few as startlingly attractive as the present offering; indeed, only two are certified at the MS66 level by NGC, and none by PCGS. Razor sharp in every detail, the planchet toned a mix of iridescent reds and greens, transforming into steel-blue on the obverse. An elite specimen of this popular hallmarked Shilling variety, extremely rare so fine as this.
