George III Octagonal Counterstamped Bank of England Dollar ND (1799-1804) AU53 NGC, KM656, S-3766, ESC-138. Octagonal counterstamp (graded AU Standard) on a 1800 Mo-FM Mexican 8 Reales of Charles IV. An attractive pair of strikes have graced this silver planchet, the host coin toned an argent-grey with residual luster, the octagonal counterstamp (far rarer than the oval variety which was replaced as it was too easy to counterfeit) showing excellent detail of George III's cuirassed bust. A rare offering in this premium quality.
