Great Britain
George IV gold Sovereign 1825 AU Details (Obverse Spot Removed) NGC, KM682, S-3800. Laureate head. The key type for George IV Sovereigns, the last for decades to bear St. George slaying the dragon; the later part of 1825 saw the transition to Wyon's debut 'bare head' portrait of George IV and a shield on the reverse. Rare thus and desirable in any grade, this AU example boasts an excellent strike with a strong gold color and abundant lustrous elements to the surface. The 'spot removal' listed within the grade refers to a scraped area at 6 o'clock on the obverse, an imperfection with hardly detracts from the eye appeal of this rare Sovereign.
