William IV gold Coronation Medal 1831 PR61 Ultra Cameo NGC, BHM-1475, Eimer-1251. By William Wyon. Only 1203 examples of this medal were produced in gold, and of this low mintage 238 were subsequently melted leaving just 965 remaining. This charming example was fortunately spared from the melting pot, remaining in beautiful preservation with deeply frosted portraits of William IV and Adelaide. Very richly colored a vibrant gold, the fields hairlined but a trifle when one appreciates the eye appeal of this medal as a whole. A premium coronation medal offering.
