William IV Shilling 1835 MS66★ NGC, KM713, S-3835. A wondrous coin, clearly never spent, hardly touched, and indeed more beautiful than even when first struck due to its sublime patina. Full cartwheel luster has matured into a glorious rainbow iridescence, deep red at the peripheries then turning yellow, then seafoam green, then an argent steel-blue as it reaches the centers. The finest example graded is a sole MS67 PCGS which we offered in 2013, and this present offering shows similarly pristine surfaces to that specimen and perhaps even finer toning commensurate with the rare 'star' designation.
