Victoria Mint Error - Full Reverse Brockage "Gothic" Florin ND (1848-87) AU58 NGC, KM746, S-3891. An absolutely marvelous example of this error type, the incuse reverse design perfectly centered and deeply struck on the obverse, handsomely toned a deep gray. One rarely sees a brockage error so well-produced as this piece! The reverse is also bold and appealing, light wear showing that, despite its odd appearance, this piece did circulate for a short time. Unusual to see this error on this type, a full obverse brockage of the 1872 Gothic florin we offered in our September 2016 sale realized $1,920, and we anticipate similar collector interest for this more highly-graded reverse type.
