Sicily. Manfred gold Multiple Tari ND (1258-1266) VF35 NGC, Spahr-184 var., MEC-598 var. (weight standard). 8.70g. Traces of legend which should read +MAYNFRIDVS, head of Manfred left superimposed on Eagle's breast / IC-XC | NI-KA aside astile cross. An extraordinary and exceedingly rare type, especially so in this extremely heavy weight. The piece shows Manfred as the loyal Son of the Eagle (representing the Emperor). For comparison, the only similar piece sold on auction was the sale of the Spahr plate coin, which, weighing 8.79 grams and estimated in VF condition, sold in December of 2017 in an Italian auction for 8,500 Euros. This piece, being of similar weight, same type, and certified as authentic by expert graders, has the potential to draw an even greater level of collector attention.
