Michele Steno gold Ducat ND (1400-13) MS67 NGC, Fr-1230, Paolucci-1. Obv. St. Mark standing right presenting banner to kneeling Doge left . Rev. Christ standing facing, holding gospels and raising hand in benediction, surrounded by mandorla and stars. An amazing example of this normally crudely struck issue. The flan is not perfectly round as is often seen with these early types. The strike is very bold and the mint luster full and brilliant gold. No significant flaws are visible and both sides exhibit numerous die striation marks as struck. Rare in this Superb condition.
