Charles III 2 Reales 1763/2 Mo-M MS63 NGC, Mexico City mint, KM87. Dappled with light tone, this Choice Mint State selection presents boldly rendered features without the softness typically encountered on the reverse shield and an obverse planchet adjustment that wasn't fully struck out. The overdate is easily identifiable, even without the aid of magnification, and the slightly granular planchet is free of any noticeably imperfections. Likely among the finest extant from this short-lived series, and as a reference, we sold an MS62 of this type (1763) in our New York auction of 2016 which realized a hammer price of $2,200. This coin by all accounts is much nicer and should bring in bids that exceed our high estimate.
