Ferdinand VII gold 8 Escudos 1818/7 Mo-JJ MS62+ NGC, Mexico City mint, KM161, Onza-1268. Though slightly weakly struck in the centers, as is fairly typical for the type, this golden offering boasts an exceptionally sharp peripheral strike. The piece shows with no planchet or rim flaws and few larger distracting marks, the grade mostly capped by light handling in the fields. The luster is bright and lemon-yellow, the surfaces glowing and shimmering upon rotation, revealing a subtle honey tone near the edges. Currently the finest of this scarce overdate graded at either NGC or PCGS by multiple points, and the single finest of any variety of this date.
