A pleasing specimen, the first year of this three-year transitional type reading 'CAROL IV' in the legend which changed to 'CAROL IIII' in 1792. The short lived use of this legend variety renders this a popular type amongst collectors of the 8 Escudos series. With creamy original surfaces, a deep gold in color, visually satisfying for the certified grade and exhibiting some charismatic double striking on the obverse.
