Charles III gold 8 Escudos 1773 S-CF AU55 NGC, Seville mint, KM409.2. This 8 Escudos, although not an extremely rare type, is particularly unusual for its superb eye appeal. Clearly with some circulation wear, it nonetheless exhibits remarkable reflectivity in the fields with a gorgeous vibrant red tone over most of the peripheries. Rarely does one see an 8 Escudos with this level of color, and indeed to the cataloger this piece appears somewhat more attractive than a Mint State example. Truly a stunning specimen.
