Alfonso XIII gold Restrike 100 Pesetas 1897 (1962) SG-V MS64 NGC, KM708. Struck by the Spanish Mint from original dies in 1961 and 1962, considered an official restrike issue. Charmingly, the year of restrike is incised within the two small stars bordering the original date of 1897. A light butter-gold at the peripheries, darkening swiftly to a gorgeous warm copper tinge in the centers and indeed over the majority of the flan. Prominent die-polish lines give a pleasant brushed metal texture to the flan, the devices bold and prominent. A delightful specimen of the type.
