SICILY. Acragas. Punic occupation (ca. 213-211 BC). AR eighth shekel or hemidrachm (2.14 gm). NGC XF 5/5 - 4/5. Carthaginian Rule, Phoenician standard. Wreathed head of Triptolemos right; dotted border / Free horse right; HT (Punic) below, linear border. HGC 2, 173. SNG ANS 3, 1233.
Although the holder describes the coin as a quarter shekel, the Phoenician standard would be ~3.65 gm. This example is in the range of the eighth shekel weight of ~1.82 gm and has the correct reverse type and Punic inscription for eighth shekels.
