JUDAEA. Bar Kokhba Revolt (AD 132-135). AR zuz (18mm, 3.33 gm, 1h). NGC MS 3/5 - 4/5. Undated issue of Year 3 (AD 134/5). 'Simon' (Paleo-Hebrew), name within wreath of thin branches wrapped around eight almonds, medallion at top, tendrils at bottom / 'For the freedom of Jerusalem' (Paleo-Hebrew), fluted jug, handle on left. Hendin 1428. TJC 284. Overstruck on a denarius of Vespasian with IMP CAESAR and the entire outline of the portrait visible on the reverse. ON MAX and some of the throne visible on the obverse. Very interesting with so much of the host coin visible even though the Judaea overstrike is strong and clear.
