Cyprus. Henry II (Second Reign, 1310-24) Gros ND XF40 NGC, 4.50g. CCS-54. hЄnRI | RЄI: DЄ:, king seated in curule chair, with foreparts of lions at sides, his legs together, cloak fastened with brooch at right shoulder, holding scepter in right hand, orb in left; F in left field / +IЄRVSAL'M Є DЄ ChIPR', cross of Jerusalem. A highly pleasing example of this popular crusader issue with the legends highly legible and virtually entirely on the flan. Some subtle iridescence (with especially prominent cobalt flints) has taken up around the protected regions of the devices, and nicely complements the gunmetal fields. A rare variety with an F in the left obverse field. Comes with old Sotheby's pedigree.
