Hamburg. Free City Proof 2 Mark 1907-J PR66 PCGS, Hamburg mint, KM612. Absolutely magnificent and unparalleled in terms of eye-appeal, this piece not only boasts supremely glossy, fully-reflective fields, but adds a second-to-none toning scheme the likes of which are often only dreamed of by collectors--the centers have taken on a sunset golden hue while the rims are an incredibly strong azure and magenta. Though the finest certified example currently grades a point higher at PR67 Ultra Cameo and achieved over $4000 in Stack's Bowers' January 2015 NYINC Auction (Lot 646), its cameo finish remained flawlessly blast white and jet-black and, in the current cataloger's opinion, this current offering possesses a superior level of eye-appeal and seems likely to achieve a grade point higher if it were placed in a more modern PCGS holder.
