Lübeck. Free City 3 Mark 1908-A MS67 PCGS, Berlin mint, KM215. Currently tied for the finest example yet seen by PCGS, this somewhat scarcer and highly-coveted type displays an array of vibrant colors emerging from its shimmering silvery fields as it is rotated in hand--revealing russet amber and peach infused hues, together with a strong presence of turquoise and lilac, all of which is pleasingly complemented by dark accents around the devices. For reference, an identically graded (by NGC) and similarly toned example hammered in our 2017 Long Beach Auction for $850 (Lot 30854).
