Mughal Empire. Shah Jahan I (1628-58) gold Mohur AH 1061 Year 23 (1673/4) [sic] VF30 ANACS, Daulatabad mint?, KM260.21. An attractive aurous example of this popular 'Type 260' design with relatively even wear that creates a pleasant bright-dark contrast between the fields and devices. Interestingly bearing the name of Shah Jahan I, but using a regnal year that post-dates his death by almost 20 years (which Krause SAC lists as an error), it is likely that a combination of the stamps from regnal years 2 and 3 was used, making the date possibly either 1652/3 or 1653/4 respectively. An intriguing piece sure to excite among collectors of the Mughal series.
