Pair of base gold Dinars Imitating 'Ali b. Muhammad ND (copying Frozen Year AH 451 [AD 1059/60]), 2.23g, 22mm, and 2.20g, 21mm respectively, A-1075.3, cf. ICV-1103 (for prototype). An intriguing pair of imitative issues clearly produced to copy the style of Sulayhid issues. Album notes that while these types have traditionally been associated with Ethiopia or Eritrea, where they may indeed possibly have been struck, most known specimens are said to have Yemeni rather than African provenance.
