Piacenza. Ranuccio I gold Quadrupla (2 Doppie) 1615-PP VF30 NGC, KM-MB35, Fr-907, MIR-1152/13var (legends). Paolo Pindemonte as mintmaster. RANVT • FAR • PLA • P • DVX • IV • S • R • E • CONF • P •, armored bust of Ranuccio I left / PLACENT | FLORET, she wolf standing left, three lilies behind surmounted by crown; date and mintmaster's initials below. Crudely struck as per usual, this very rare issue manages to retain a peculiar hold over its viewers, with the weakness of strike not preventing the legend's legibility and crispness (for the most part), and a noticeable die shift on the reverse. A great Italian piece.
